Products Description of 2,2-Dibromo-2-cyanoacetamide CAS#10222-01-2

White crystals. Melting point 125℃, soluble in general organic solvents (such as acetone, benzene, dimethylformamide, ethanol, polyethylene glycol, etc.), slightly soluble in water (100g water dissolves 1.5g at 25℃). Its aqueous solution is relatively stable under acidic conditions and easily hydrolyzed under alkaline conditions. Increasing pH value, heating, ultraviolet light or fluorescent irradiation can greatly accelerate its dissolution rate. It is easily debrominated by reducing agents such as hydrogen sulfide to become non-toxic cyanoacetamide, which greatly reduces the sterilization rate. When its pH value changes from 6.7 to 9.7, the half-life also changes from 37.0h to 0.11h.

This product is a broad-spectrum and highly effective biocide. Its molecules can quickly penetrate the cell membrane of microorganisms and act on certain protein groups to terminate the normal oxidation-reduction of cells, thereby causing cell death. In addition, its molecules can selectively bromine or oxidize special enzyme metabolites in microorganisms, ultimately leading to the death of microorganisms. It is mainly used as a bactericide and algaecide to prevent bacteria and algae from growing in paper industry water, industrial cooling water, air conditioning water, metal processing lubricants, water emulsions, pulp, wood, plywood and coatings, and fibers. Using 15ppm20% DBNPA can achieve good results. It can not only control microorganisms, but also strip off the original mud clumps that filled the filler and restore the evaporation efficiency of the cooling tower. The product is moderately toxic to animals, and the LD50 for female guinea pigs is 118mg/kg.
