Diethylene glycol CAS#111-46-6
Diethylene glycol is a clear colorless, odorless and steady oily liquid. It is additionally barely viscous, noncorrosive and nonvolatile. Because of its ether and alcohol group, diethylene glycol well-knownshows chemical residences attribute of both essential alcohols and ethers. Its boiling factor is extensively greater than that of ethylene glycol, and its solvent is greater. Diethylene glycol is miscible with water, ethers, decrease aliphatic alcohols, aldehydes and ketones and is partly soluble in benzene, carbon tetrachloride, monobenzene, orthodichlorobenzene and toluene. It dissolves many dyes, resins, oils, nitrocellulose and many natural substances. Because of its solvent power, low volatility and hygroscopicity, it is used in material lubricants, reducing oils, dry cleansing soap, printing inks, steam-set inks, and nongrain timber stains. In the cloth enterprise diethylene glycol is used as a conditioning agent for wool, rayon, and cotton. As a solvent for dyes it makes a precious assistant in dyeing and printing. The excessive hygroscopicity of diethylene glycol makes it an environment friendly softening agent for tobacco, paper, artificial sponges, glues and casein. Diethylene glycol is specifically beneficial in the dehydration of herbal gas. A combination of diethylene glycol and monoethanolamine will do away with moisture, hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide from herbal gas.

Product Usage
The propanols are used generally as solvents for coatings; in antifreeze compositions and family and private products; and as chemical intermediates for the manufacturing of esters, amines, and different natural derivatives. As a solvent, 1-propanol is used basically in printing inks, paint, cosmetics, pesticides, cellulose esters and insecticides.
1-Propanol is used commercially to produce glycol ethers. These are characterised by using twin functionality, which imparts high solvency, chemical stability, and water compatibility.
