2-Naphthalenesulfonic acid is an important chemical intermediate, widely used in dye, textile and leather industries. It is used to produce dye intermediates such as 2-naphthol, 2-naphtholsulfonic acid, 1,3,6-naphthalenetrisulfonic acid, 2-naphthylaminesulfonic acid, etc. It is a dehydrogenation catalyst. It can be condensed with formaldehyde to produce diffusant N (diffusant NNO). 2-Naphthalenesulfonic acid is also used as a biochemical reagent and experimental reagent for peptone and protein determination.
