Product Application of 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole CAS#149-30-4
As a general vulcanization accelerator, this product is widely used in various rubbers. It has a rapid accelerating effect on natural rubber and synthetic rubbers that are usually vulcanized with sulfur. However, it needs to be activated by zinc oxide, fatty acids, etc. before use. It is often used in combination with other accelerator systems, such as thiuram disulfide and tellurium dithiocarbamate as an accelerator for butyl rubber; it can be used in combination with tribasic maleic acid lead for light-colored water-resistant chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber. It is often used in combination with dithiocarbamate in latex, and can be vulcanized at room temperature when used in combination with diethyl dithiocarbamate diethylamine. This product is easy to disperse in rubber and does not pollute. However, due to its bitter taste, it is not suitable for rubber products that come into contact with food. Accelerator M is an intermediate of accelerators MZ, DM, NS, DIBS, CA, DZ, NOBS, MDB, etc. 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, 1-amino-4-nitroanthraquinone and potassium carbonate are refluxed in dimethylformamide for 3 hours to obtain the dye disperse red S-GL (C.I.DisperseRed121). This dye is used for dyeing polyester and its blended fabrics. 2-mercaptobenzothiazole is also called acid copper plating brightener M when used as an electroplating additive. It is used as a paving auxiliary brightener in bright copper plating with copper sulfate as the main salt. In addition, this product is also used to prepare pesticide fungicides, nitrogen fertilizer synergists, cutting oils and lubricating additives, organic anti-ashing agents in photographic chemistry, metal corrosion inhibitors, etc. In addition, it is also a reagent for chemical analysis. This product is low in toxicity and irritating to the skin and mucous membranes.
