Ethanol CAS# 71-23-8
1-propanol is the compound with the hydrogen atom in the propane molecules being changed by way of hydroxyl group. Because the hydroxyl crew can alternative the hydrogen atoms contained in the carbons in the two terminals of carbon chain or center carbon, hence producing two isomers, n-propyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol.
The chemical property of the 1-propanol is comparable to that of ethanol. It is the byproduct for the duration of the technique of the methanol synthesis from carbon monoxide and hydrogen. At room temperature and regular pressure, it seems as colorless obvious liquid with heady scent odor. In industry, it is organized thru the response between ethylene, carbon monoxide and hydrogen underneath excessive stress and cobalt catalysis; on the other hand thru the hydration of propylene underneath the motion of sulfate or thru the catalytic hydrogenation of acetone. It is many times used as a solvent with demanding impact on the eyes and mucosa. Inhalation of propyl alcohol steam can lead to dizziness, headache and vomiting, etc.

Product Usage
The propanols are used generally as solvents for coatings; in antifreeze compositions and family and private products; and as chemical intermediates for the manufacturing of esters, amines, and different natural derivatives. As a solvent, 1-propanol is used basically in printing inks, paint, cosmetics, pesticides, cellulose esters and insecticides.
1-Propanol is used commercially to produce glycol ethers. These are characterised by using twin functionality, which imparts high solvency, chemical stability, and water compatibility.
