Products Description of Isopropyl alcohol CAS#67-63-0

Isopropyl alcohol is also known as fire wine, dimethyl methanol, 2-propanol, English: isopropylalcohol, the simplest secondary alcohol, and one of the isomers of n-propanol.

A colorless, flammable liquid with a strong odor, similar to the smell of a mixture of ethanol and acetone, but not very strong. It is soluble in most organic solvents such as water, alcohol, ether, benzene, chloroform, etc., and can be miscible with water, alcohol, ether, and can form an azeotrope with water. Density (specific gravity): 0.7863g/cm3, melting point: -88.5℃, boiling point: 82.5℃, flash point: 11.7℃, autoignition point: 460℃, refractive index: 1.3772.

Its vapor can cause slight irritation to the eyes, nose and throat; it can be absorbed by the human body through the skin. Its vapor can form an explosive mixture with air. The explosion limit is 2.0%~12% (volume). It is a medium explosive dangerous item. It is a flammable and low-toxic substance. The toxicity of the vapor is twice that of ethanol, and the toxicity is the opposite when taken orally.

Product Application of Isopropyl alcohol CAS#67-63-0

Isopropyl alcohol is an important chemical product and raw material, mainly used as a dehydrating agent and cleaning agent in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, plastic, fragrance, coating and electronic industries.

Reagents for the determination of barium, calcium, magnesium, nickel, potassium, sodium and strontium. Chromatographic analysis reference material. In the circuit board manufacturing industry, it is used as a cleaning agent and to make PCB holes conductive. In addition, it is also used in other electronic devices, including cleaning CD boxes, floppy disk drives, tapes, and the laser heads of CD or DVD player CD drives. Isopropyl alcohol can also be used as a solvent for flexographic printing, lithography, gravure printing, and as an equipment cleaner. This ingredient is also often included in inks. It is also an important solvent for laboratory dilution and extraction.

In addition, isopropyl alcohol is used as a gasoline additive and a deicing agent for fuel pipelines.

In the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, isopropyl alcohol is used to manufacture scrubbing liquids, hand and body lotions, preservatives, and pharmaceutical reddening agents. It is also used in paints, thinners, coatings, cleaners and polishes, as well as surface sterilization, hospital disinfection, food processing plants, etc.

Isopropyl alcohol is used as a low-cost solvent in many industrial and consumer products and as an extractant, replacing ethanol in many cases. It is also used as a solvent for oils and colloids, and in the manufacture of fishmeal feed concentrates. Low-quality isopropyl alcohol is used in automotive fuels.

The use of isopropyl alcohol as a feedstock for acetone production is declining. Several compounds are synthesized from isopropyl alcohol, such as isopropyl esters, methyl isobutyl ketone, isopropylamine, diisopropyl ether, isopropyl acetate, thymol, and many esters. Isopropyl alcohol is available in different qualities depending on the end use. Anhydrous isopropyl alcohol is available in regular qualities of 99%+, while special grades are available in 99.8%+ (used in flavors and pharmaceuticals).
