P-tert-butylphenol is used in the synthesis of the acaricide acetylinate in pesticides and is also the raw material for the new fungicide spiroxamine. It has antioxidant properties and can be used as a stabilizer for rubber, soap, chlorine chemicalbook hydrocarbons and nitrocellulose;

It is a raw material for medicines (insect repellents), spices, and synthetic resins; an additive for softeners, solvents, dyes, and coatings; it can also be used as a demulsifier component for oil fields and a vehicle oil additive.
