Products Description of Direct Red 23 CAS#3441-14-3 

Purple-red powder. Moderately water-soluble, bright red when dissolved in water, its aqueous solution turns light blue when adding dilute sulfuric acid, produces wine-red precipitate when adding concentrated hydrochloric acid, and turns reddish orange-brown when adding concentrated alkali. Slightly soluble in ethanol and orange, insoluble in acetone. Bright red to magenta in concentrated sulfuric acid, turns brown-orange after dilution;

Orange-yellow precipitate is produced in concentrated nitric acid;

Insoluble in concentrated alkali solution;

Dissolved in concentrated ammonia water and bright red. When dyeing, the color light darkens when encountering copper ions, and the color light does not change when encountering iron ions.

It is mainly used for dyeing and printing of cotton, viscose, linen and other fiber fabrics, and can also be used for dyeing silk, wool, paper, leather, and for making lake pigments. In addition to being used alone to dye scarlet and madder red (yellow light red), it is also used to mix colors with yellow, orange, red, brown and other dyes. After dyeing, it is finished with urea-formaldehyde resin or treated with fixing agent Y, and the color base benzene remains unchanged. If it is treated with fixing agent M, the color becomes obviously blue.
