Menthyl glycol is an insect repellent and insecticide composition, characterized in that the insect repellent and insecticide composition comprises (a) lemongrass oil (citronella oil); (b) menthyl glycol; (c) vanillin; and (d) a delivery medium; wherein: the mass ratio of p-menthyl-3,8-diol to lemongrass oil (citronella oil) is 10 to 2:1. The advantages of the present invention are: it is based on known natural ingredients to alleviate the limitations of current products. Two or more insect repellent materials are used in a synergistic manner to produce a product with additional benefits and excellent efficacy in a unique formula. Studies have found that this new composition can effectively repel mosquitoes and has a strong insect repellent effect. The formula containing lemongrass oil (citronella oil) and menthyl glycol has been proven to effectively deal with malaria mosquitoes, mosquito-borne anopheles mosquitoes, and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that spread dengue fever and yellow fever.
