Products Description of Tributyl phosphate CAS#126-73-8
Colorless, transparent liquid with pungent odor, flash point 193℃, boiling point 289℃ (101KPa), viscosity 3.5~12.2 centipoise, refractive index 1.4226 (20℃). It is miscible with common organic solvents and slightly soluble in water. The solubility of water in this product is 7% (25℃). But it will gradually hydrolyze as the temperature rises. Tributyl phosphate is mainly used as a solvent, and is also often used as a plasticizer for nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, chlorinated rubber and polyvinyl chloride, an extractant for rare metals such as uranium, thorium, vanadium, rare earth, etc., and is also used as a heat exchange medium. However, this product has a low boiling point and large volatile loss, so its application in plasticizers is relatively limited. Tributyl phosphate is mainly used as a defoamer in aqueous systems. It is insoluble in water and has a relatively low surface tension. It is a short-acting surface defoamer. It is mainly used in industry and cannot be used in textiles and food because the volatile gas of tributyl phosphate has a very unpleasant smell and is toxic to the human body.
