Products Description of Thiourea CAS#62-56-6
Thiourea, English name: Thiourea, white bright bitter crystal, soluble in cold water, ethanol, slightly soluble in ether, easily deliquescent in the air, and transforms into ammonium thiocyanate at 150°C. It has reducing properties and can reduce free iodine to iodide ions. Thiourea is highly reactive and is used to prepare various compounds. It can react with a variety of oxidants to form organic compounds, and can also react with inorganic compounds to form easily soluble addition compounds.Thiourea also has a wide range of application prospects in petrochemical and pharmaceutical chemicals. Many pharmaceutical molecules contain thiourea structural fragments. Thiourea is also an important intermediate for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. For example, many oral hypoglycemic drugs and antithyroid drugs on the market are thiourea molecules. In addition, thiourea compounds have good insecticidal activity and are widely used in the field of pesticides. In organic synthesis, it is used to make thiourea derivatives such as methylthiourea, diethylthiourea, diphenylthiourea, and thiourea dioxide, and a catalyst for the preparation of phthalic anhydride and fumaric acid. It is used to prepare epoxy resin fast curing agents, synthetic resin coatings, and anion exchange resins. It can also be used as a toughening agent for melamine formaldehyde resin adhesives. In terms of photographic materials, thiourea can be used as a developer and toner, and a reducing agent for azo photosensitive paper. It is also used as a vulcanization accelerator for rubber, a flotation agent for metal minerals, a dye dyeing auxiliaries, a processing aid for fabrics, nylon and polyester fibers, a paper treatment agent, an electroplating additive, a metal rust inhibitor, an insecticide, a fertilizer, etc.
