Products Description of Tannic acid CAS#1401-55-4

Tannic acid, also known as tannic acid, is an organic compound with a chemical formula of C76H52O46. It is a yellow or brownish yellow powder. Its aqueous solution turns blue-black when it meets an iron salt solution. Adding sodium sulfite can delay the discoloration.

In industry, tannic acid is widely used in tanning leather and making blue ink. Tannic acid can coagulate protein. People use tannic acid to chemically treat raw pig skin and raw cow skin, which can coagulate the soluble protein in the raw skin. As a result, the raw skin that would stink and rot after a few days becomes beautiful, clean, flexible and durable leather. This leather making process is called leather tanning.

Product Application of Tannic acid CAS#1401-55-4

Clarifier, astringent, crude oil deodorant, fragrance aid; tannic acid can be used for tanning, ink manufacturing, paper and silk gluing, boiler descaling, etc. It can also be used as a mordant, a clarifying agent for beer and wine, a coagulant for rubber, etc.

It can be used in printing and dyeing, metallurgy, medicine and other industries. Tannic acid itself has very low toxicity. Precipitation and weight determination of beryllium, aluminum, gallium, indium, niobium, tantalum and zirconium. Ratio determination of copper, iron, vanadium, cerium and cobalt. Precipitant for proteins and alkaloids. External indicator for ammonium molybdate titration of lead. Mordant for dyes.
