Product Application of CERIUM(III) CHLORIDE CAS#7790-86-5
Cerium trichloride can be used as a raw material for the preparation of cerium and other cerium salts, a petroleum catalyst, and a Lewis acid in organic synthesis. Cerium trichloride can be used as a raw material for the preparation of cerium trifluoromethanesulfonate, which is a Lewis acid in organic synthesis and is used in Friedel-Crafts acylation. Cerium trichloride itself is also a Lewis acid and is used in Friedel-Crafts alkylation. Cerium trichloride heptahydrate can be used as a reagent in the Luche reduction reaction when used with sodium borohydride. This reaction is one of the common methods for reducing α,β-unsaturated ketones in organic synthesis.
